ROCK SALT

The development of Megan Marie's brand ROCK SALT was completed in the Fall of 2017 in her Fashion Illustration course. After her extensive brand and product education on denim during her first internship with The Buckle, Inc., Megan Marie was inspired to feature the textile in her collection. Techniques such as hand sanding, bleaching, dyeing, and destructing were explored and executed in the construction of each unique denim look. Designed with a rock n' roll spirit in mind, ROCK SALT is for women who want a slight edge to their wardrobe. Lyrics that resonate with the on-trend grunge era can be found printed on graphic tees and embroidered on denim.

Development
Relying on everything she had learned from her previous courses, Megan Marie utilized her knowledge and skills in flat pattern making, draping, scaling and grading her original pattern work, and garment construction to bring ROCK SALT from concept to collection. Hundreds of hours were dedicated to perfecting each piece, many of which were hand treated. Regular fittings were held with her Women's Size 8 model, Lauren, to ensure her work was as accurate as possible.
Style File
Throughout the semester Megan Marie collaborated with a fellow Merchandising Student, Audrey, who assisted her in organizing a photoshoot and creating a line sheet to figure the retail value of each piece in the collection. They regularly updated a Style File through the Google Docs platform to communicate their ideas to each other and keep them organized.
