Draping with Woven Textiles
This original skirt design was adapted from the standard Size 8 dress form. It features princess seams, an invisible zipper, and eyelets for a lace up detail with ribbons.
Three Yard Project
Challenged to create an original design without using her dressmakers shears on the fabric, Megan Marie hemmed the final fashion fabric and tried various different draping techniques to create a successful and functional design.
Draping with Knit Textiles
Inspired by her original designs from the Advanced Computer Imagery in the Fashion Industry course, Megan Marie draped a rib knit textile on the standard industry Size 8 dress form in order to create her original dress design.
Outcomes
Throughout this course, Megan Marie learned how to develop original designs by using draping techniques that can either be applied to a standard dress form or a live fit model. She was also given more creative freedom in this course in comparison to previous courses, as projects did not have as strict of guidelines in addition to building upon principles from previous courses. Each project was featured in the Spring Senior Showcase, recognizing Megan Marie for her creativity, sewing skills, and accurate pattern work.
